Eleven years ago the previous owners of Coate’s imported 3,000 hand made wooden bowls from India for the stalled “Coate’s Shaving Soap” project. Never unpacked they were still in their original jute bundles when they were acquired by their new owners last year. Following the success of their first project, Tea Tree & Rosemary Shaving Cream it only seemed right to use these wooden bowls for the shaving soap.
Tea tree oil has been used for many years in both traditional and alternative medicine, due to its natural anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties and as it is now widely used in skincare products, it seemed a natural progression to include tea tree oil in their new shaving soap. This high quality shaving soap will ensure a smooth shave, as the natural essential oil will help calm the newly shave skin and is also the ideal solution to reduce any post-shave redness. Tea tree oil is capable of penetrating the lower layers of the skin with its anti-inflammatory and wound-healing qualities, to encourage the formation of new tissue, following the shave.
The inspiration for the package design for the new shaving soap came as it needed to look at home in a bathroom at the Burgh Island Hotel. Set like a diamond on its own tidal island, the unique English Art Deco Hotel. Built in 1929, extended in 1932 and completely restored to its ’30s glamour, the Burgh Island Hotel is a retreat like none other. History is present in every aspect of a stay there, hand in hand with 21st century standards of service and facilities. The hotel sits sparkling in its special island and a stay there has always drawn guests who are looking for something that is not only different but an experience that is almost timeless; a genuine step back into another age.
The new signature 1930’s green packaging and the Coate’s Swan in foiled silver is the first product in their new range of shaving products for gentlemen of all ages…
The worldwide launch date is April 21st 2011 to celebrate the 85th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II.
