Uses Gillette’s Mach 3 razor blades
This razor handle is not for the bargain hunters among us. At eighty-five dollars it doesn’t take a marketing genius to figure that out. It uses a Gillette Mach3 razor blade cartridge, right? Aren’t those handles usually free?
So what’s the big deal here?
Well, as you probably already know, it is extremely important to use a razor that has a good weight to it. All safety razors originally were made of metal and were heavy compared to today’s common plastic handle razors. The extra weight these razors provide help to achieve excellent shaves because they allow you to have more control over the blade.
To use it properly you simply allow the weight of the blade to control the pressure against your skin. You do not need to add any additional pressure to the blade. Just relax and let the sharpness of the blade and weight of the razor do the work for you.
When you are using a sharp blade with a light handle (plastic) razor there is a natural tendency to apply too much pressure to make up for the fact that there really is no weight to speak of in a plastic handle. You need pressure between the blade and your skin in order for the razor to cut the hairs, but not too much. When the razor offers little or no pressure of it’s own you are left to provide the pressure yourself. In most cases when you add the pressure yourself it is very inconsistent from one area to the next and from one day to the next. Finding the proper amount of pressure doesn’t have to an art and science, all that is required is the proper tools for the job.
In addition, often times people will over compensate for a dull blade by pressing the razor harder on the skin to get a closer shave. This really never works and usually causes most nicks and razor burns and is just plain uncomfortable. Make sure that you always use a sharp blade.
This razor handle was created for a couple of specific reasons:
Many people enjoy Gillette’s Mach3 blades, it’s been a best seller for many years running now. You probably already have one or at least tried it out. So you know these blades provide a nice clean shave, are easy to use and they are readily available. The standard issue Mach3 razor from Gillette is great mainly because it is free. And the focus goes more to the blade itself and how many blades there are, the lubricating strip etc. But as I mentioned, the quality of the blade and it’s sharpness is only half the story. The other half of the story is the razor handle itself. The EverBlade branded Mach3 razor handle addresses this issue because it’s perfectly balanced and weighted for precision shaving. Offering you a luxurious shave without having to give up your lovely Mach3 blade. It’s elegant hour glass design is formed from tough poly-resin that gives it the look and feel of antique ivory – without in dangering any elephants! It is completed with a beveled chrome collar and end cap – very sharp! This is a razor handle that you will have as long as Gillette keeps making Mach3 blades.
If you are already in love with Gillette’s Mach3 razor blades and want to step it up a notch to experience the full luxury this blade has to offer, the EverBlade Mach3 razor handle is a must have.
